Enhancing Preparedness: Shepherd Consulting Services and Transurban Deliver a High-Quality Emergency Exercise.

Exercises come in all sizes and formats

Shepherd Consulting Services recently collaborated with Transurban Brisbane to deliver another outstanding multi-agency emergency exercise, reinforcing the importance of preparedness across agencies. Exercises come in all shapes and sizes, and this latest initiative highlighted the incredible value of an interactive walkthrough of the Clem 7 tunnel infrastructure, alongside an assessment of Transurban’s internal capability and capacity.

The exercise was designed to provide an immersive learning experience, with emergency services actively engaged throughout. This collaborative approach ensured fire, police, and ambulance responders could explore how they would respond to various scenarios within the challenging confines of a major tunnel system.

Participants gained invaluable insights into the complex back-of-house areas that make up the Clem 7’s critical infrastructure. Smoke ducts, cable tunnels, cross passages, and sump pump rooms were just some of the features explored, each presenting unique challenges in the event of a life-threatening rescue operation. The walkthrough illuminated the potential obstacles first responders might encounter in real-world emergencies, enhancing their situational awareness and response strategies.

This exercise also demonstrated the importance of safe environments for training and preparation. It allowed participants to familiarise themselves with tunnel-specific challenges without the pressure of a live incident.

Well done to Tanya Harding, Mark Harrington and the entire team involved for creating an opportunity to build knowledge, enhance inter-agency coordination, and improve overall preparedness. By fostering these collaborative exercises, we are ensuring that first responders are better equipped to manage emergencies effectively, protecting lives and infrastructure. Shepherd Consulting Services is proud to support Transurban Brisbane in prioritising safety and resilience through innovative and practical training.
